Sep, 2024 The Jordan Young Scientist (JoYS) Initiative organized a recognition event at Al-Hussein Technical University to honour the students from Sahab Secondary School for Girls, who won the HTUx Award within the Technology Category at the Jordan Young Scientist (JoYS) 2024 National Exhibition. The students distinguished themselves with their innovative project, the "Hydroponics Robot," which earned them this prestigious award. The event was attended by the Ambassador of Ireland to Jordan, Marianne Bolger, the Chairman of JoYS Initiative, Mr. Mohammad Tahboub, and the President of Al-Hussein Technical University, Prof. Ismail Al-Hinti. During the event, the winners were recognized with the "Full Stack Web Development" course award, presented by Al-Hussein Technical University on their HTUx platform, in recognition of their outstanding achievement. |
"Run with JoYS" Activity Celebrating International Youth Day
Aug, 2024 The "Run with JoYS" event, held in collaboration with the King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) in celebration of International Youth Day. Participants enjoyed an exciting 3 km run, followed by a series of fun and engaging tele-match games. The event brought together people of all ages, creating an atmosphere filled with youth, energy, and community spirit. The collaboration with KHCC highlighted the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles and community engagement, aligning with the core values of both organizations. |
Launching Jordan Young Scientist National Exhibition
June, 2024 The exhibition officially opened with a ceremony graced by Ambassador of Ireland Mrs. Marianne Bolger, JoYS Chairman Mr. Mohammad Tahboub, and HTU President Prof. Ismael Hinti. The JoYS National Exhibition brought together the brightest young minds in STEM in Jordan at Al Hussein Technical University. The event showcased 180 innovative projects from 559 students representing 141 schools. Supported by their dedicated teachers and enthusiastic parents, these students demonstrated their impressive scientific skills and creativity. The exhibition highlighted their remarkable achievements but also fostered a spirit of collaboration and innovation, making it a significant celebration of Jordan's young scientific talent. |
Expanding Collaboration: MoU with the Ministry of Education
June, 2024 In a significant milestone, Jordan Young Scientist (JoYS) Initiative signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education (MoE), facilitated by the Embassy of Ireland. This agreement, witnessed by Ambassador Marianne Bolger, Dr. Azmi Mahafza, and Mr. Mohammad Tahboub, signifies a shared commitment to advancing STEM education in Jordan. The MoU aims to create more opportunities for students to explore and develop their scientific talents. |
Judges' Orientation Sessions

Ambassador Marianne Bolger's Visits to JoYS Schools
March, 2024 Ambassador Marianne Bolger visited several schools to engage with students and teachers involved in the Jordan Young Scientist (JoYS) Programme, underscoring her commitment to fostering scientific curiosity and innovation among Jordan's youth. At Queen Zain Al Sharaf Secondary School for Girls in Aqaba, Ambassador Bolger was introduced to a range of innovative projects by students participating in JoYS. She expressed her admiration for their creativity and encouraged them to continue pursuing excellence in science. Ambassador Bolger then met with the winners of JoYS 2023 at the Islamic Scientific College School, Jubeiha Branch. These students had the honor of representing Jordan at the BTYSTE 2024 Exhibition in Dublin, Ireland, where they presented their project, "Artificial Nervous System." Ambassador Bolger praised their achievements and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting the JoYS Programme in the future. Continuing her engagements, Ambassador Bolger brought the spirit of Saint Patrick's Day to the International Academy Amman (IAA). During her visit, she shared insights about Ireland and the JoYS Programme, inspiring a new generation of innovators. IAA's commitment to JoYS was evident, with two top prize-winners from last year and even more promising projects this year, further solidifying the school's leading role in promoting scientific excellence. Ambassador Bolger’s school visits concluded in a visit to UNRWA Qusour Preparatory Boys School, where she met with students and teachers to recognize the accomplishments of the 2023 JoYS winners. She expressed her excitement for UNRWA’s expanded participation in 2024, highlighting the growing reach and impact of the JoYS Programme. Feb, 2024 Embassy of Ireland and the Jordan Young Scientist (JoYS) Initiative hosted a captivating Women in Science Day webinar, featuring leading women scientists sharing their inspiring journeys in STEM! The Women in Science Day webinar aimed to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women scientists across Jordan in STEM fields, promote gender diversity in science fields, and foster discussions on the importance of inclusion and equal opportunities, aligning with the spirit of Women in Science Day and Saint Brigid's Day. This webinar provided a platform to highlight the experiences of women scientists, address challenges they face, and promote gender diversity and inclusivity in scientific research and academia. Jordan Young Scientist delegation travel to Dublin to take part in the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition
Jan, 2024 The winning team from the Jordan Young Scientist (JoYS) 2023 Programme travelled to Dublin to participate in the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE 2024), which is now in its 60th year. The winning students had the opportunity to demonstrate their JoYS winning project, entitled "Artificial Nervous System," held at the Royal Dublin Society. The delegation was visited at their booth by both the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and for Defence, Micheál Martin T.D., and the Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora, Seán Fleming T.D. BTYSTE founder, Dr Tony Scott, also visited the delegation at their booth, acknowledging the exceptional work and dedication of the Jordanian students. JoYS delegation had the opportunity of visiting many institutions such as: Trinity College, Dublin’s museums, some of the major ICT company headquarters in Dublin’s docklands, as well as the Department of Foreign Affairs in Iveagh House. |
JoYS Bootcamp
Sep, 2023 The Jordan Young Scientist (JoYS) Programme has inaugurated its first bootcamp in September 2023. Over the span of two days, this camp was designed to stimulate innovation and empower young minds to explore the world of entrepreneurship, and social responsibility. The JoYS Bootcamp featured an array of workshops and training sessions covering essential topics such as entrepreneurship skills, intellectual property rights, financial literacy, public speaking and cyber security. These sessions are facilitated by experienced professionals who provide valuable insights to participants. |
Tánaiste met winners of Jordan Young Scientist 2023
Sep, 2023 In a significant visit to Al Hussein Technical University, H.E. Mr. Micheál Martin, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Defense of Ireland, met with the winners of the Jordan Young Scientist (JoYS) Exhibition 2023 in presences of H.E Dr. Azmi Mahafza, Minster of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This visit underscored the importance of STEM education and highlighted the extraordinary potential of Jordan's young scientists. The visit by His Excellency Mr. Micheál Martin signifies the strong partnership between Ireland and Jordan in fostering educational excellence and empowering the youth to tackle global challenges through science and innovation. Also, during this visit the Tánaiste handed out the cash prizes to the top three overall winners for the year 2023. |
Launching Jordan Young Scientist National Exhibition
June, 2023 Announcement the successful launch of the Jordan Young Scientist National Exhibition in June 2023. The event was graced by the presence of H.E Mrs. Marianne Bolger, Ambassador of Ireland to Jordan, Prof. Ismail Hinti, President of HTU, and Mr. Mohammad Tahboub, JoYS Chairperson. The Exhibition, held at Al Hussein Technical University in Hussein Business Park, showcased the remarkable innovations of young minds from 68 schools all across Jordan. With enthusiastic participation from public, private, military, and UNRWA schools, this year's exhibition truly served as a catalyst for fostering innovation among students. We are grateful for the support and involvement of all schools, partners, and stakeholders in making this event a resounding success. An Irish Delegation Visited an UNRWA School in Wehdat Camp
March, 2023 Minister James Browne TD, paid a visit to a Amman New Camp in Jordan with UNRWA officials. The Minister and accompanying delegation, including Ireland’s Ambassador to Jordan, H.E. Mrs. Marianne Bolger, was welcomed to Al-Wihdat Camp by UNRWA Deputy Commissioner-General, Ms. Leni Stenseth. Staff of UNRWA highlighted Ireland's contribution as well as the services that UNRWA provides to Palestinian refugees. This year's Jordan Young Scientist Program students had the opportunity to present their projects. |

They were welcomed by the school staff with the presence of representatives from Ministry of Education. International Women and Girls Day in STEM
Feb, 2023 JoYS Launched a campaign for The Women and Girls Day in STEM on the 11th of February. It was introduced by H.E. Ambassador Marianne Bolger on behalf of JoYS, emphasizing the significant contributions made by women to science. We are pleased that 60% of JoYS participants are female, and the work these young women put into their projects indicates their great potential and the promising future they will have. JoYS winners Participated in BTYST Exhibition in Dublin
Jan, 2023 H.E. Ambassador Marianne Bolger went to Queen Alia Airport to say goodbye to Basel & Saif and to wish them best of luck! Basel Abu Salameh and Seif Nakhleh, who won first place with the project titled "Xchange" this year from the Jubilee Institute, were delighted to represent Jordan for the first time at the BT Young Scientist Exhibition, the longest-running STEM Exhibition in Europe. Mr. Mohammad Tahboub, JoYS Chairperson, and Eng. Manar Issam Abdullah, JoYS Lead Coordinator, joined the students in their trip. The JoYS winners got the chance to showcase their expertise and projects at this exhibition, as well as engage with and learn from other students from Europe and Africa. They also visited some well-known places in Ireland to enrich their knowledge and enjoy their time. |

This significant event will result in the initiative's accessibility to private schools. With the help of PSCES, JoYS will be able to reach the largest number of private schools in Jordan to enable them to participate in the exhibition. |

Through this agreement, Madrasati will collaborate with JoYS to ensure that this goal is achieved by reaching the largest number of public and military schools. |

JoYS aims to organize an exhibition that befits the goal of Young Scientists Initiative, where it will be appropriate to showcase students' projects in all comforts. To do so, HTU will allow JoYS to use its facilities, cooperate with them and assist when needed. |

Aug, 2022 Jordan Young Scientist initiative and the Crown Prince Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding solidifying their partnership and agreeing on the importance of STEM focused initiatives for young Jordanians across the Kingdom. Over the next year, with the support and cooperation of the Crown Prince Foundation and partners across Jordan the JoYS programme will be nationwide with the expectation that the initiative will become the paramount national competition for students studying science subjects in secondary schools. |

Jordan Young Scientist Team Visits
June, 2022 JoYS Team has made many visits to the several schools that took part in the pilot program to get their input and to talk about the program's strengths and areas for improvements. JoYS has received a lot of positive feedback since the majority of students and teachers are motivated to study and develop further, especially in the wave of the COIVD19 pandemic, in order to support the community's development. |
